Opportunity to build a unique career
I’ve been with the business 10 years now and I’ve had a REALLY varied career in that time, turning a job into a career that I have absolutely loved. I’ve worked hard and that work has been recognised in the path that I’ve taken. One thing I have really learnt is that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
I’ve had so many amazing experiences both in our business but also in the industry, that it is hard to pick a highlight. Certainly some memorable moments are being the first winner of the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF) Young Supplier Achiever in 2014 and being chosen as an industry Top 100 Supplier Influencer, both of which are amazing!
I joined in 2013 in a new role called “Merchant Sales Support” for the central UK region and got so many opportunities to learn about our industry from different angles. My promotion to North West Area Sales Manager came as perfect next step, as it suited me geographically and also provided broader insights into our routes to market and full customer journey. My maths and finance degree was also put to good use with the pricing responsibilities of this role.
I then moved into a secondment role in the Allocation Team, followed by my dream role as Merchant Sales Support Manager. It was here that I grew a team around me of 4 people and I was also elected as Vice Chair of the BMF Young Merchant group, which served as further recognition of the work that myself and KI were doing in this sector.
Following all the changes during Covid, different opportunities then arose and in August 2020, I was offered the role Head of Communications within the Marketing Team. Again, this was another new role for the business, but one I thought I would be able to lend my experience to given my knowledge of our customer base and commercial insight. In this role, I took the responsibility for the internal and external communications with a team of 2 plus an apprentice. Not long after this appointment, my role was expanded to also take responsibility of the Digital element of the Marketing Team too – introducing me to a subject I was completely novice in!
I stay here because this business is a testament to its people. I feel we have the ability to recruit like-minded individuals who all bring a touch of their own uniqueness. The people at KI are dedicated to doing better for themselves, the business but also the greater good. We work hard but we allow our people to flourish and have fun at the same time. No wonder it doesn’t feel like 10 years that I’ve been here!

Opportunity to work in different countries
I have been with Knauf for nine years and I have had lots of highlights and goals which have been achieved over that time, but actually all of that means nothing if you don’t enjoy the journey. I am thoroughly enjoying my journey and love working alongside some exceptional people.
I started as a Specification Manager for Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi for Knauf (Gypsum) Middle East for 2 years. I then had the opportunity to join Knauf Insulation Netherlands as Export Manager tasked with developing the Middle East, UK and Australian markets for 6.5 years. Then last year a different opportunity arose to join KINE to drive the UK market to the next level and grow into the Nordic and South African markets, and I grabbed it!
I’ve been with the business for this amount of time thanks to the people, The opportunities to develop personally and professionally and to be able to be in a forward-thinking company that strives to pioneer change in all spheres but most importantly sustainability with market leading solutions. I am proud to work here.

Opportunity to stretch your skills
I began with an apprenticeship in Knauf as an electronics technican and electrical engineering and since the start, it has never been boring! I love the varied work at Knauf and I am always faced with new challenges. I then moved into maintenance as part of the gypsum board production and I was supported to complete part-time training to become a master electrician. This was a fantastic opportunity as it laid the foundations for further career development within the business.
I have now taken the next exciting step in my career by managing the electrical workshop with a team of 12 shift electricians at the Iphofen site. This company has not only offered me amazing opportunities, but has also supported me with everything I need to be able to take them and grow my career.
